15th Tour of the Fireflies

The Tour of the Fireflies on its 15th year will be held on November 24, 2013 (Sunday).  The tour starts and finishes at Tiendesitas, Pasig City.

I join the 12th Tour of the Fireflies

My out of town trip today didn't push through. And, I was able to join the 12th Tour of the Fireflies.

I woke up early; so, I could pedal all the way to the starting line in Tiendesitas, Pasig City. That's about 21 kilometers one-way. I passed by Neopolitan Business Park to join other bikers for the pedal all the way. But, only Jerome showed up. The two of us left Neopolitan at about 5:45 am and passed through Commonwealth Avenue - Tandang Sora - Katipunan Avenue - White Plains - Ortigas Avenue. We arrived at Tiendesitas an hour later.

The total participants was estimated at more than 10,000. The total distance of the route is about 40 kilometers. In the process, gridlocks were created along the way to the discontentment of the affected motorists and pedestrians. At the Ayala Avenue, the bikers stopped over for a breather and for another program.

It was indeed an enjoyable experience joining this kind of biking event.

I vote to bike! (Tour of the Fireflies)

The 12th Tour of the Fireflies is happening 10 days from now or on April 18, 2010 from 7:00 am up to 1:00 pm. It's a tour by bike around eight towns of Metro Manila (Pasig, Quezon City, Marikina - Cainta - Taguig - Makati - Mandaluyong) and in seven cities outside of Metro Manila (Baguio, Bacolod, Palawan, Laoag, Leyte, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos)

The theme is : I VOTE TO BIKE!

Rationale: Remind Filipinos that an act as simple as riding a bicycle to work, to school, to dates... is an act of being makabayan... no pollution is produced and one saves dollar reserves because there is no reliance on expensive imported fuel.

Vote for more bicycle racks in your community and commercial malls...

Vote for road space and NMT ordinances...
